Hatha yoga postures on Many asanas can be practised sitting on a chair and some done in the bed. Even if for some reason you are not able to perform the asanas physically, you can try visualizing yourself practising them. This is a tremendous exercise in concentration – but it brings with it many of the benefits that physical practice imparts. The most minute movement can become an asana, when done with awareness and attention to breathing. One yoga student with multiple sclerosis spent several sessions working on bringing her hands together in the prayer pose – for her this was certainly an asana, and one she took great delight in practising and perfecting. All of us go through times of stress in our lives – whether the cause is a change of job, the break-up of a relationship, or giving up smoking.
