The Mystery of Diet Chemistry

Perhaps it is the reaction of many to the mania for â˜junk foods,’ but I find a great renewal of interest in nutrition and food among my patients. It is not enough for them to look trimmer and feel better than they have for years. They want to know how it happened.

A typical patient said to me recently, â˜I know your diet works. I took off 18 pounds in 14 days, and I feel great. But how does it work? And why does it seem much less tedious to follow than other diets I’ve tried?

Part of this interest springs from a healthy curiosity about our bodies, as well as from the intense desire to lose weight. A simplified explanation may be helpful.
